Welcome to my greatest case study: myself

As a Product and UX Designer, I’ve embraced the power of growth, iteration, and continuous refinement. Each phase of my journey represents a new version, incorporating fresh skills, perspectives, and strategies for solving user problems. From concept to ongoing development, this is the story of how I’ve designed a product focused on creating meaningful, user-centered experiences: me.

In this early phase, I worked as a freelance graphic and content designer, building foundational skills in Adobe Creative Suite, visual design principles, and stakeholder communication. I learned the value of iteration and adaptability, skills that remain central to my UX and Product Design approach today.

In this update, I expanded my skillset to include content design, serving as the Social Media Chair for a nonprofit board for four years. During this time, I developed and executed comprehensive content strategies, crafted engaging copy, and created visually impactful graphics tailored to diverse audiences. Managing social media campaigns allowed me to hone my ability to communicate key messages effectively while driving community engagement and brand awareness.

Phase Three: UX and Product

Version 3.0 : UX & Product Design Mastery

This iteration marks the first major leap into User Experience. Building on my foundations in social research and graphic design, I completed the Google UX Design Certification—a program that emphasized crafting user-centered solutions through hands-on learning.

I acquired essential skills, including prototyping, wireframing, and usability testing, which gave me the tools to analyze user pain points and design meaningful solutions. This phase set the stage for a deeper dive into the UX field, highlighting my passion for creating seamless and intuitive user experiences.

This release marked a pivotal transformation as I began exploring a career in User Experience, building on my foundations in social research and graphic design. These dual backgrounds provided the perfect base for understanding user behavior and crafting visually intuitive solutions—key elements of UX design.

I embarked on this journey with a Google UX Design Certification, where I learned to craft user-centered solutions through prototyping, wireframing, and usability testing. This was followed by earning a Master of Science in User Experience, where I deepened my knowledge of human-computer interaction, accessibility, and advanced design systems.

This update brought a comprehensive expansion of my expertise. Earning a Master of Science in User Experience allowed me to refine advanced skills in human-computer interaction, accessibility, and design systems. It was during this phase that I honed my ability to bridge user behavior research with visually compelling designs, creating well-rounded solutions.

The program built on the technical skills introduced in Version 3.1, incorporating methodologies such as usability testing, interaction design, and accessibility standards. My dual backgrounds in social research and graphic design came together to form the ideal foundation for crafting impactful user experiences.

Takeaways and Next Steps

Design Principles I Live By

  • Empathy Drives Design: Understanding users is the cornerstone of every great solution.

  • Iteration Equals Progress: Every version, no matter how small, is a step toward something better.

  • Collaboration Over Isolation: The best ideas are born from diverse perspectives and shared goals.

  • Form Follows Function: Aesthetics are critical, but they should always serve the user’s needs.

Each of these principles reflects my journey as a Product and UX Designer. They've guided every decision, every iteration, and every success.

What’s Next?

While I’ve been hard at work iterating on my own design, I can’t help but wonder where this next version will take me. Could it be with your team? My next big move is all about growth—both personal and professional. If you’re looking for someone with a passion for creating meaningful, user-centered experiences, let’s connect.
